MedPro Healthcare Staffing’s philanthropic organization, MedPro Gives, is pleased to announce its $2,006 charitable donation to Women In Distress. MedPro Healthcare Staffing sponsors a charity for its “Cocktails for Charity” Friday happy hour initiative every month. Employees can donate or purchase one happy hour drink toward the chosen charity of the month.
Women In Distress has been assisting domestic abuse victims and their children for nearly 50 years. Founded in 1974 by Edee Greene and a group of concerned citizens, the organization Initially sheltered homeless women. However, a local tragedy highlighted the need for a facility for women and children in danger.
Today, Women In Distress’ mission is to stop domestic abuse through intervention, education, and advocacy. The organization operates a 132-emergency bed shelter and provides ongoing counseling and support. Women In Distress is the only nationally accredited, state-certified, full-service domestic violence center serving Broward County and has:
Provided mover than 25,000 nights of emergency shelter.
Answered more than 21,000 calls for help on their 24-Hour Crisis Hotline.
Provided more than 30,000 advocacy, counseling, and therapy hours to adults and children.
Provided free legal representation to help more than 600 survivors file injunctions for restraining orders.
