Promoting Optimal Kidney Health and Helping Raise Awareness on World Kidney Day

Having launched in 2006, World Kidney Day aims to raise awareness of the importance of your kidneys. The day plays host to numerous worldwide screenings and educational seminars as to the risk factors of kidney disease and preventative measures to combat it as well.

The mission is simple, to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys and just how vital they are to our overall health. The research seeks life-saving initiatives to help in reducing the frequency of kidney disease and other associated health problems.

This year’s theme is ‘Living Well with Kidney Disease’. It can certainly be challenging in being diagnosed with kidney disease, for both patients and their loved ones. The goal is to help stall or stop kidney failure and encourage preservation and help fund other restorative and substitutive procedures for patients.

Our kidneys help us remove waste and other unwanted fluids and minerals from our blood. They also make urine, control our body’s chemical balance and blood pressure, as well as help us make red blood cells and keep our bones healthy too.
